Who we are

Snake Oil Spices is a small-batch seasoning maker in Estherville, Iowa. This page covers this website. Questions about any of it: Snakeoilspices@gmail.com.

What we collect

• When you order: your name, email, the items you ordered, and anything you choose to add: phone number, address, order notes and a gift-card message.
• When you send a message: your name, email and the message.
• When you join the list: your email address.
• When you leave a review: your name, town, the blend, your star rating and your words. Reviews are checked by us first and, once approved, shown publicly on the site with your name and town.
• When you use Ask the Apothecary: the questions you type.

We do not take card numbers on this website. Nothing is charged online.

What we do with it

• Fill, confirm and deliver your order, and answer your questions.
• Email you about new batches, market dates and deals, only if you ticked the box or joined the list. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we will take you off.
• Keep a record of orders so we can look up a past order when you ask.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Returning customers

On the order page, entering an email address and choosing “Load my usual” shows the first name and past orders saved under that email so you can reorder quickly. It never shows a phone number or an address. If you would rather your email not be looked up this way, email us and we will remove your order history.

What is saved on your own device

The order page remembers a half-finished order and your last order number in your browser so you do not have to start over. That stays on your device. We do not use advertising cookies or trackers. We count page visits with a cookie-free analytics tool that does not identify you.

Companies that help us run the site

Your information passes through the services that keep this site running, and only to do that job: Vercel (website hosting and visit counts), Neon (the order database), Resend (sending order and confirmation emails) and Anthropic (answering Ask the Apothecary questions).

Your choices

Email Snakeoilspices@gmail.com to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We will take care of it personally.

Children

This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
